Water you waiting for? BUCS report is here!

posted in: BUCS 0

On the 11th November, 27 members of EUSC braved the long journey up to Sheffield to compete in the annual 3-day BUCS Short Course Championship. With both experienced BUCS competitors, as well as many first-timers, everyone was nervous but excited to see what the weekend would bring. And what a weekend it was! 12 EUSC club records, 2 BUCS finals, and PB’s for almost everyone on the team!

The performances of each and every member of the team left the club feeling extremely proud, which can definitely be attested to all of the hard work and effort that has been put into training over the past couple of months. Most team members swam 2 individual events and 1 relay at varying times over the weekend, however even when individual people weren’t swimming, our stand was never empty and instead everyone was constantly full of Exeter cheer, supporting the others swimming, and just overall bleed-green-ness. Some especially notable performances including Dom Wooldridge, who made the final in both his 100fly and 50fly in 54.22 and 24.83, and the Boys A 200m freestyle relay team, made up of Neal Taylor, Pete Lewis, Joseph Massey, and Dom Wooldridge, who smashed the existing club record by 2.9 seconds to finish in 1.38.18. There are so many other exceptional performances to be listed, however if I did that, I’d be here all day!

Thank you to Jo John and Nye Levett for all their hard work in making sure we were all trained up and ready for the competition, as well as Anna, Aeron, Lydia and Alex for driving us all up there. Now it’s the countdown to BUCS Long Course! #splishysplashyshortcourselove
