What a week! I want to start by thanking every single person who helped during Varsity week, whether that was fundraising via the bake-sale or fun-run, coming along to the quiz, or swimming on the day. We had a fantastic week, raising a huge amount for our chosen charity – the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). In total we raised an amazing £2213.75 which I’m sure will be put to incredible use by JDRF!

Starting on Monday with the bake sale, EUSC members were out in force either baking or buying those delicious treats! Moving on to the evening many of you came along to the Pub Quiz in The Ram. It was a great evening, with some tough questions, and some not-so-tough questions –‘Question Number 5’ anyone?

On the Wednesday we stripped down to our costumes, decorated ourselves with accessories, and embarked on our fun run. Swimmers braved the stares and ogles as they ran through the University campus, through town and finally ended up at St Lukes pool for an intense game of water polo. It was an incredible effort by everyone who ran and contributed greatly to our final total, so thank you to everyone who ran, and all the friends and family who sponsored us!

Saturday was the competition day: Varsity 2019! A day filled with some great swims against our friends from Bath, Bristol, FXU and our lovely Alumni members. Big up to everyone that swam, and congrats to Kenny for completing 4 lengths and getting his Rainbow Distance Badge. We’re all so proud of you! The relays were once again a highlight, with the t-shirt relay being especially entertaining. Well done to everyone who swam and thank you to everyone who volunteered to help on the day.

Saturday night saw the swimmers dress in the colours of their university. There were some great efforts, there were some poor efforts, and there were some truly outrageous efforts *cough Maxime McDonald cough* which made for an amazing night at Exeter’s sacred building – the Lemmy!

I just want to finish by thanking everyone for their help and contribution in making my final varsity as an EUSC member such a pleasure, giving me so many memories of such an incredible week of events. It was an absolute honour to organise it, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we achieved that week in aid of JDRF – and you all should be proud of yourselves too!

Once again, thank you!

Lots of love,

Jack xxx
